Carpenter has bounced back from arm and shoulder injuries to post a solid 6-3 mark and 2.32 earned run average so far this year, but gave the club a bit of a scare on June 30 versus San Francisco. The 34-year-old was beat up for six runs in a loss to the Giants in what was by far his worst outing of the season.
Carpenter, though, came back in a big way on Sunday, holding the Reds to just a run on five hits over seven innings of a 10-1 victory.
